Portola Music Festival Announces Inaugural Lineup With Flume, The Chemical Brothers & More
Goldenvoice’s inaugural Portola music festival will be taking place at Pier 80 in San Francisco on Sept. 24 and 25, with a lineup headlined by Flume and The Chemical Brothers.
Kaytranada, Jamie xx, Jungle, Charli XCX, James Blake, M.I.A., Lane 8, Peggy Gou, Toro Y Moi and more will also be making appearances.
“This is the festival I’ve wanted to produce for the past decade,” Goldenvoice VP Talent Buyer, Danny Bell, said in a statement. “San Francisco is the perfect city for it and now is the perfect time! Let’s dance and have a great time this September!”
The festival’s namesake refers to the Portola Festival of 1909, which celebrated the return of the city following the devastation caused by the 1906 earthquake. Goldenvoice’s new version of the festival aims to combine elements of dance, indie, hip-hop, and progressive pop.
Festival attendees will have the opportunity to roam from tents to a 400,000 square-foot warehouse, with the main stage finding the San Francisco skyline as its backdrop. Local food offerings, craft beer, local wine, and cocktails will all be made available throughout the event.
Flume appeared at Coachella this year, with the festival marking some of his first appearances since 2019. During his 2019 tour, Flume grossed $132,197 for his show at Tempodrom in Berlin, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice.The Chemical Brothers have also done few performances since live music’s return, with the bulk of their touring taking place in 2019. Their performance at The O2 in London on Nov. 30, 2019 sold 14,193 tickets and grossed $826,916.
Tickets for the upcoming event will begin to go on sale May 20.
