Who’s Back? Betty Who Releases Pride Anthem ‘Blow Out My Candle’, Plots Busy Year
Betty Who spent the better part of her pandemic lockdown writing and recording new music and learning the ropes of TV hosting.
She debuts a new music video for “Blow Out My Candle” today to kick off Pride Month, and will appear on the “Can’t Cancel Pride” livestream benefit along with Elton John, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Lizzo, Anitta, Dove Cameron, Kim Petras and hosted by JoJo Siwa on June 14.
She’ll also debut a new Amazon Prime Video TV dating show, “The One That Got Away,” on June 24. She tells Pollstar an album and fall tour are also in the works.
“Blow Out My Candle” is a triumphant return to form for Betty Who. On the ‘80s-inspired song, Betty channels her infectious spirit with a newfound level of insight and introspection.
The track is a catchy ode to perseverance, with a chorus that activates the dancefloor: “You can blow out my candle, but you’ll never put out my fire.”
The video, directed by Tyler Cunningham, finds Betty embracing the ‘80s aesthetic as she dances around in a Jamie Lee Curtis-inspired workout leotard, sweatband, and high socks as she sings about self-confidence and love. Watch it here:
