Béla Fleck, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jerry Douglas, Leftover Salmon Announced For Inaugural Earl Scruggs Fest

1980x1080

Grammy-winning Banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck with an all-star band, dobro and lap steel master Jerry Douglas, country-rock icons Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and jamgrassers Leftover Salmon are among the acts announced today for the inaugural Earl Scruggs Music Festival slated for Sept. 2-4, 2022 at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival will celebrate the American banjo legend who hailed from Cleveland County, North Carolina. Scruggs pioneered a unique style of three-finger banjo picking, coined “Scruggs style.” His collaborations with Bill Monroe & the Blue Grass Boys, as well as Lester Flatt and the Foggy Mountain Boys helped christen the bluegrass genre in the late 1940s. He passed in March 2012, Nashville.

The festival is produced in collaboration with the Earl Scruggs Center, WNCW 88.7, and Isothermal Community College. A portion of proceeds will support the festival’s beneficiaries, the Earl Scruggs Center and Isothermal Community College, who serve Earl Scruggs’ home region of the Carolina Foothills with cultural programming through multiple platforms.
