“His enthusiasm for music, also as a natural companion to travel, has helped make him a strong ally of UNWTO’s mission, as recognized in his new role as Special Ambassador,” according to the press release.
“Both music and tourism are powerful vehicles for bringing people together, for celebrating culture, for peace and understanding,” commented Secretary-General Pololikashvili, adding, “UNWTO is proud to welcome Pino Sagliocco to our growing family of Ambassadors and I look forward to working closely with him to grow sustainable tourism, both in Spain and around the world.”
Music tourism has been emerging as a major trend in the industry for years. It has gained even more importance now, as both the music and tourism industries have been among those economies hit hardest by the restrictions of the past two years.
