Elton John Adds New Dates To ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’ In Australia & New Zealand
While Elton John continues his bittersweet goodbye to touring, the Rocket Man has added five more dates to his upcoming trek through Australia and New Zealand.
The added tour dates will see John making stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and more. The newly added dates land ahead of the rescheduled dates at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on Jan. 27 and 28, with the Australiasian leg kicking off on Jan. 10 at Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium.
John is currently in the midst of his final North American dates, which will close out with three nights at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium Nov. 17, 19 and 20. The North American Dates see dates in Toronto, Vancouver, San Diego, Phoenix, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville and more.
The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” has seen many stops and starts, with an initial postponement in February 2020 after John had to cut the dates short due to falling ill with pneumonia. Shortly afterwards, the dates continued to be postponed due to the worldwide pandemic, with John finally being able to get out on the road this year.
For some of his final performances, John has sold out shows in Tampa (April 24, $2.21 million gross), Louisville (April 16, $2.22 million gross), Lexington, K.y. (April 9, $2.33 million gross), Dallas (March 10 and 11, $5.7 million total gross), Brooklyn, N.Y. (March 1 and 2, $4.7 million total gross) and more.
John ranked No. 11 on Pollstar‘s list of “Top Touring Artists Of The Decade” with a total gross of $675,886,369 from the start of his career to 2019. The “Farwell Yellow Brick Road Tour” is promoted by AEG Presents and presented by Alliance for Lifetime Income, with the newly added Australiasian dates also being produced by Chugg Entertainment and Frontier Touring.
John managed to play a total of 40 dates throughout Australia (34 dates) and New Zealand (six dates) back in 2019 prior to having to halt performances due to pneumonia and COVID. The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” will see John perform his final show on July 8, 2023 in Stocholm Sweden.
