John Mayer Announces Benefit Concerts For Montana Flood Relief
Following the historic flooding of the Yellowstone River in Montana on June 13, which wound up closing down parts of Yellowstone National Park and damaged homes, John Mayer will be hosting three concerts to benefit relief efforts.
Taking place over the course of three dates, the benefit concert aims to raise funds benefitting the Park County Community Foundation. The first date, occurring on Aug. 8, will see Mayer bringing along Bob Weir. Mayer will then return on Aug. 14 with Dave Chappelle, and once again on Aug. 21 without any announced guests.
All three events will take place at the Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, Mont.
“I want to help give love and strength to a community that has always given me the same,” Mayer said in a statement.
Tickets for Mayer’s upcoming benefit are now on sale, with each event selling for $150. Proceeds go towards the SW MT Flood Relief Fund, a partnership between the Park County Community Foundation and Greater Gallatin United Way.
The flooding of the Yellowstone River damaged the north entrance road of the park, as well as adjacent communities. Along with losing power, many residents also lost access to clean drinking water. The funding raised from Mayer’s benefit concerts will help to provide support, including emergency shelter, drinking water, food, clothing, food replacement, cleanup and building efforts.
John Mayer’s recent solo tour saw stops at TD Garden in Boston (May 9 and 10, with 25,537 tickets sold and $3.2 million gross), UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. (May 7 with 12,392 tickets sold and $1.5 million gross), Scotiabank Arena in Toronto (May 3 with 13,999 tickets sold and $1.6 million gross) and more. Following his solo dates, Mayer hit the road with Dead & Company, with the band grossing $1.2 million for their June 29 show at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Mich., $7.2 million for their two shows at Wrigley Field in Chicago on June 24 and 25, $6.1 million for their Juen 17 and 18 shows at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo., and more.
Bob Weir, who will be joining Mayer for the Aug. 8 date benefiting the Park County Community Foundation recently announced his band will be heading out this fall, with the band playing three nights in San Francisco to celebrate Weir’s 75th birthday.
