We Were Promised Jetpacks Announces U.S. Fall Tour Dates
Scottish rock band We Were Promised Jetpacks already played two successful runs in the U.S. in 2022 – including more than 40 headline gigs and festival appearances such as SXSW and Treefort – but the trio is ready for more. The post-punk group has announced a fall tour that features 19 U.S. gigs throughout October.
“We’ve played 40 shows in North America this year and we decided that wasn’t enough, so we’re coming back in the fall! Can’t wait to come rock out in a bunch of places we missed earlier this year!” guitarist / singer Adam Thompson said in a statement.
Drummer Darren Lackie adds, “Having had so much time off of touring has given us a renewed desire to get out there and play to as many people, in as many different places, as possible. We’re so appreciative of the people who listen to us; it’s because of them that we are constantly pushing ourselves to get better.”
We Were Promised Jetpacks is continuing to support its fifth studio album, Enjoy The View, which was released in September 2021, marking the band’s first release since guitarist Michael Palmer’s departure.
A review from Under The Rader says, “Conceived while the band were in pandemic lockdown one might expect the aura of the new album to be dark and restrictive. But while the album does retain some remnants of the band’s early catharsis, it’s more controlled and refined and not wrapped quite as tight. This gives the tracks room to breathe and allows the band to include resounding crescendos with echoing, spiraling guitar lines and leaner, cleaner rhythms while retaining the passion the band are known for.”
The fall tour begins Oct. 7 at Skully’s in Columbus, Ohio. Stops include White Oak Music Hall in Houston, Tipitina’s in New Orleans, Third Man Records in Nashville, Baltimore Soundstage, and White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, N.J.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. local time.
Box office reports submitted to Pollstar for We Were Promised Jetpacks include March 25 at The Independent in San Francisco, which sold 510 tickets and grossed $12,008.
