Bikini Kill Announces Rescheduled North American Dates for 2023

Seminal feminist punk band Bikini Kill, forced by COVID-19 to cancel a slew of 2022 dates on its reunion tour, will head back on the road in 2023.

The run through North America includes 16 rescheduled shows, plus an added date in St. Paul, Minn. Beginning March 30 at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works, the tour includes two shows each in Silver Spring, Md. and Toronto before wrapping up April 23 in Knoxville, Tenn. See the full routing below.

The band embarked on an ambitious international reunion tour in 2019 for its first full shows since 1997. The trek was halted in 2020 by the pandemic and then earlier this year the band called off more dates after multiple members of the group were diagnosed with COVID.

The reunion dates – featuring Kathleen Hanna on vocals, Tobi Vail on drums, and Kathi Wilcox on bass , joined by guitarist Sara Landeau – have earned raves from the press.

“Time has not tamed Bikini Kill, but its ferocious response to assault and inequity has found a much bigger audience today than it enjoyed a quarter-century ago. … Hanna is one of the great frontpeople of all time, but she is best with this band behind her. The pounding of Vail’s toms doubled by Kathi Wilcox’s bass pushes Hanna’s voice into a roar that is primal and undeniable; she makes you listen,” Evelyn McDonnell wrote for the New York Times about Bikini Kill’s first reunion show on April 25, 2019, at the Hollywood Palladium.

McDonnell added, “Reunion shows are often just showcases for nostalgia. But the return of Bikini Kill feels less like a blast from the past and more like a superhero’s intervention.”

Tickets for the 2023 dates go on sale Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. Eastern via the band’s website. Previous ticket holders can contact the venue for policies regarding refunds.

Box office reports submitted to Pollstar for Bikini Kill include an April 29, 2022, show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles that sold 4,527 tickets and grossed $185,232.
