Wizkid Announces North American ‘More Love, Less Ego’ Tour
After playing New York’s famed Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Wizkid has more big plans lined up in North America. The Nigerian singer/songwriter has announced dates for the “More Love, Less Ego Tour,” a 20-city run that features a mix of arenas, theatres and amphitheatres.
The tour goes along with Wizkid’s fifth studio album of the same name that was released in November via RCA Records and Starboy Entertainment. A five-star review from NME declared “Afrobeats’ biggest star perfects his universal sound” and praised Wizkid for continuing “to expand his forward-thinking musical outlook.”
“The More Love, Less Ego Tour” launches March 3 at Houston’s Toyota Center with stops including Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Detroit’s Fox Theatre, Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena and San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The last gig on the books is April 7 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
Wizkid has been nominated for three Grammy Awards during his career including nods in 2022 for Best Global Music Album for Made in Lagos Deluxe Edition and Best Global Music Performance for “Essence” (featuring Tems). In 2021 he won an award for Best Music VIdeo for his appearance in the Beyoncé track “Brown Skin Girl.” Other accolades include winning a 2022 BET Award for “Best Collaboration” for the Jusic Bieber remixed lead single “Essence” (featuring Tems) and a 2022 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding International Song.”
Wizkid’s fanbase has quickly grown in the U.S. For example, he’s scheduled to play the 7,800-capacity accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington, outside of Seattle, March 31 as part of his 2023 tour. Looking at box office reports submitted to Pollstar, when he played the market in September 2021 he took the stage at The Neptune in Seattle, selling $1,000 tickets and grossing $47,290.
Tickets for the Live Nation-produced “More Love, Less Ego Tour” went on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time. Check out the routing below.
