On the eve of releasing their 12th studio album, Cruel Country, on vinyl and CD, Wilco announced a spring tour in North America that will kick off with a three-night residency in Chicago.

The 21-date tour begins at the Riviera Theatre on March 23 and includes stops in New York, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. The band’s run ends at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Wilco will play three consecutive residencies in Chicago, Port Chester, New York and Iceland and promise no repeats in each city. The band will have Horsegirl and The A’s as supporting acts on most nights.

The Grammy-winning Chicago-based rock band released Cruel Country digitally last May to great acclaim, with The New York Times calling it an “understated magnum opus.”

Wilco has had success with live performances at intimate venues. The band performed two sold-out shows at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana, selling 2,399 tickets and grossing $118,935, according to Pollstar box office reports.
