Le Tigre Return To North America After 18 Years This Summer
After 18 long years, Kathleen Hanna, JD Samson and Johanna Fateman’s Le Tigre is returning to North America. the upcoming dates kick off in Oakland, California at Masswood Meltdown Festival hosted by John Waters on July 1, with the band then making stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and more before wrapping up at Brooklyn Steel in New York on July 28.
When the band last hit the road in 2005, with highlights from Boxoffice reports submitted to Pollstar including a sold-out show at Houston’s Engine Room on July 29 grossing $10,305. Their July 20 performance at The Avolon in Los Angeles grossed $25,840. That same year also saw Le Tigre touring with Beck, joining him on dates at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Paramount Theatre in Washington, San Jose Civic and more. The band last took the stage on Sept. 24, 2005, at the Operation Ceasefire concert at Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.
Last August saw Le Tigre reunite on stage for the first time since 2005, first with a performance at This Ain’t No Picnic then at the Rose Bowl. While on hiatus, Hannah reunited with Bikini Kill, with their recent show at Tacoma,, Washington’s Mcmenamins Spanish Ballroom at Elk Temple selling out and grossing $26,824. JD, meanwhile, has been working s an Assitant Arts Profesor and Area Head of Performance at The Clive Davis Institute at NYU/Tische, while Johanna has regularly been writing for the “Goings on About Town” section of The New Yorker and in 4Columns.
Tickets for the band’s upcoming dates go on sale starting Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.
