Beyoncé Adds Seven North American Shows to ‘Renaissance World Tour’

Beyoncé is going to need a bigger tour. One day removed from announcing the “Renaissance World Tour” that will hit 40 stadiums this summer, Queen Bey added seven additional shows in North America due to overwhelming demand.

Second nights were added in Toronto, Chicago, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Inglewood in Los Angeles and Houston.

According to “Renaissance World Tour” producer Live Nation, “Fan demand already exceeds the number of available tickets by more than 800% based on current registration numbers. To help meet demand for this first group of dates going on sale, seven shows have now been added based on venue and scheduling availabilities around the time of the tour. Even with these added dates, it is still expected that the majority of interested fans will not be able to get tickets because demand drastically exceeds supply.”

The tour is implementing Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system for the North American leg with some tweaks from the standard system, much examined in the wake of the Taylor Swift on-sale fiasco. Because registration is being done with a staggered approach, Live Nation is advising fans interested in purchasing tickets for dates in North America Groups B and C to “stay tuned for further updates.” Fans can register now until Friday, Feb. 3, at 12 p.m. ET for the added shows here.

Members of the BeyHive, Beyoncé’s fan club, will be eligible to register with Verified Fan during the appropriate window. There are also Citi and Verizon Up-associated presales. (see below).

Beyoncé co-headlined a run in 2018 with her husband, Jay-Z, but this is her first headlining tour since 2016’s “Formation” tour,

The music and fashion icon tops the list of the highest-grossing Black touring artists with ticket sales topping $1 billion from concert touring during the past 21 years – from her solo treks, co-headlining tours and other concert appearances, according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice. Her overall gross is $1,008,743,477 from more than 9.3 million sold tickets at 441 concerts worldwide.

Beyoncé ranked No. 5 on Pollstar’s Top Touring Artists Of The Decade list with a gross of $857,405,819 from treks between 2009 and 2018.

Her most successful trek at the box office was “Formation” that played North American and European stadiums in support of the 2016 album Lemonade. She performed 49 shows that year, grossing $256 million from 2.2 million sold seats. The “On the Run II” stadium tour with Jay-Z, follows as a close second with ticket revenue totaling just $2.3 million less. The couple played 48 shows in stadiums on both continents on 2018’s reprise of “On the Run” and moved over 2.1 million tickets. Their first joint tour four years earlier took in $110 million globally from 21 sold-out stadium dates and 979,781 tickets.
