Nickel Creek Announces First Headlining Tour Since 2014

Grammy-winning bluegrass trio Nickel Creek will hit the road this spring for the group’s first headlining tour in nine years.

The tour, which kicks off April 15 at Cincinnati’s Andrew J Brady Music Center, will support the release of Celebrants, Nickel Creek’s first album since 2014’s acclaimed A Dotted Line.

The tour will include stops in Philadelphia, Boston and New York,. Three previously announced shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville are already sold-out. The newly-announced dates conclude June 13 at Kansas City’s Kauffman Center. The band – which features mandolinist Chris Thile and siblings Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins on fiddle and guitar, respectively – has previously planned appearances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, at London’s Barbican and at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion following that date. Among the highlights of that 2014 tour reported to Pollstar Boxoffice: sell-outs in Austin, Dallas and St. Louis at a $224,970 grossing show on 5,653 tickets sold at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia.
