They’re Coming to Your Town: Grand Funk Railroad Announces ‘The American Band’ Tour
They’ll help you party down.
Rock and soul legends Grand Funk Railroad will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their biggest hit, the anthemic “We’re An American Band,” with a North American tour.
Some caveats: they’ll be on the road much longer than 40 days (the 14-show loop runs 119 days) and they aren’t playing Little Rock nor Omaha (perhaps after having torn that hotel down, they are afraid of the bill that awaits them after 50 years of compound interest).
The tour begins March 18 in at Florida’s Clewiston Sugar Festival and includes theater and casino plays throughout the country. This year’s schedule concludes with two dates alongside fellow Michigander Kid Rock at Detroit’s Little Caesar’s Arena July 14 and 15.
Ticket information is available via the band’s website.
Grand Funk’s recent tour history is largely casinos, theaters and fairs, often alongside other 70s hitmakers like Jefferson Starship or Blue Oyster Cult. Kid Rock has include the band on some of his arena loops. Recent headlining highlights submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice include a $106,660 gross on 1,754 tickets at Indiana’s French Lick Resort September 2, 2022, for an average ticket price of 60.81.
