2023 Women of Live: Amy Corbin
Promoter | C3 Presents
Austin City Limits won Festival of the Year at this year’s Pollstar Awards. The 2022 lineup was led by four female headliners, making for another sold-out edition of the top-tier event. It is one of the things Amy Corbin, Promoter at C3 Presents, is most proud of when taking into account the past 12 months.
“This show has earned a dedicated audience that rivals any other festival in the country, and to have both audience and industry recognition just reaffirms that we are delivering an unparalleled show and a great experience,” she says. One of those headliners, P!NK, made Corbin’s list of favorite shows in the past year, alongside Dua Lipa at Lollapalooza, Coldplay in Paris, The Weeknd at AT&T Stadium, Eagles at Dickies Arena, Gorillaz at Moody Center, and Bad Bunny at Minute Maid Park.
Another highlight has been the inaugural year of Austin’s Moody Center, which “exceeded expectations. From planning to opening to the immensely talented artists that have delivered amazing shows this year, it’s been an unbelievable ride so far. The Live Nation Concerts team deserves some real recognition for an incredible year one,” said Corbin.
While she acknowledges that “the industry is becoming more inclusive, there is certainly room for improvement, especially at the executive level. Women are too often left out of important conversations and have to speak up and ask to be invited to the table in order to expand our roles. It’s critical for women in our industry to advocate for their own growth, and be brave enough to say ‘I want to learn more, teach me, show me’. You may not have a certain skill set yet and nothing to contribute, but just being included will provide valuable knowledge for growth. I would rather be a fly on the wall than not be on the wall at all.”
Over the past two decades, Corbin has been “fortunate enough to be surrounded by countless women and men who taught me everything I know about relationship building, leadership, success and most importantly how to deal with failures. They are my role models and I have much respect and admiration for them. It’s a support system, find your people, use them for guidance.” Now in a position of guiding her own team, one of her most valuable pieces of advice is “to lead by example, lean in, support each other, and have fun!”
