The celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary continues this summer in New York as Live Nation Urban and Mass Appeal announced a one-day show featuring some of the most iconic figures of the movement that originated in the Bronx. Renowned producer DJ Premier and Grandmaster Flash, a pioneer in the culture of hip-hop, will headline the inaugural Park Jams: A Juneteenth Celebration of Hip-Hop that is set to take place at Summerstage in Central Park on June 19th.

Other performers on the bill include Kid Capri, DJ Spinking, Statik Selektah, DJ Nyla Simon and DJ Diamond Kuts. The event, which is presented by Google Pixel, runs from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. and presale tickets are available via Ticketmaster through April 20 at 10 p.m. EST. The general onsale begins Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. EST.

The organizers want to pay homage to the origins of rap music and hip-hop culture “by taking it back to where it all began” with a stacked lineup and immersive concourse that “will transport attendees to hip-hop’s genesis on a trip guided by some of its most influential voices and most impactful anthems.” Park Jams: A Juneteenth Celebration of Hip-Hop is a part of Mass Appeal and Live Nation Urban’s Hip Hop 50 Live partnership, and fans can look forward to additional Park Jams in other major cities across the country.

The legendary Grandmaster Flash commemorated the 50th anniversary of hip-hop at the Grammy Awards in February with an unforgettable set of performances that featured some of the most iconic rap figures. He kicked off the award show’s tribute to hip-hop, which was curated by Questlove, with “Flash to the Beat” and “The Message.”
