Willie Nelson Announces 50th Anniversary 4th of July Picnic
Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks will be back for a 50th-anniversary celebration.
The legend announced Austin, Texas’s Q2 Stadium will host the 2023 event, set for Independence Day beginning at 2 p.m, produced by Live Nation.
In addition to the iconic Nelson, there will be performances by Tyler Childers, Dwight Yoakam, Shakey Graves, Shane Smith & The Saints, Sierra Ferrell, Asleep at the Wheel and Particle Kid.
Held annually — though it was virtual in 2020 — the picnic began in 1973 at the Hurlbut Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas and with only a few exceptions — jaunts to Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana and Georgia — been held in Nelson’s beloved Lone Star State.
Since 2015, Austin has played host, starting at the Circuit of the Americas in 2015, followed by a run at the Austin360 Amphitheater.
Tickets go on sale April 28 at 10 a.m. at Q2Stadium.com or via SeatGeek.
