Madrid´s WiZink Center will open a new concert venue inside the main building, called La Sala del WiZink Center, able to host events for up to 1,000 spectators.

The new space, located on the main floor of the venue, will have an independent access from the adjacent Goya Street. According the building’s operator, Impulsa Eventos e Instalaciones, it required “a huge investment effort” to make the new concert hall “completely sound insulated” from the concerts and events taking place at the main WiZink Center auditorium, that has a maximum capacity of 17,456 people.

La Sala del WiZink Center aims to be “a national reference in sound proofing and quality,” and has been conceived “as a space exclusively for music events.

The technical equipment is provided by Clair Brothers, the supplier of loudspeaker products used on tour by The Rolling Stones, U2, Maluma, or Paul McCartney, among others. It’s never before been installed in a Spanish concert venue, according to a press release from WiZink Center.

Due to its acoustic performance, the space can also be used for audio and video recordings, sound checks and rehearsals.

La Sala will boast a 21-square-meter LED screen at the back of the stage; 66 different lights, including moving bulbs, fixed lighting and strobe lights.

International promoters have already been made aware of the existence of La Sala, which will officially open May 19. It provides a new addition to the circuit that will bring artists to Madrid’s most famous concert building even before they’re able to play the main hall.

“The main aim of this new venue would be to serve as a boost for emerging artists,” the press release continues.

The launch of La Sala del WiZink Center on May 19 will feature performances of Ice Nine Kills, Skynd, Lansdowne, and Defying Decay, promoted by Doctor Music.
