Foo Fighters revealed Josh Freese as the band’s new drummer during their livestream over the weekend. “Foo Fighters: Preparing Music For Concerts” streamed on Sunday, May 21, ahead of the bands upcoming summer tour that marks their first performances in the wake of late drummer Taylor Hawkins’ death last year.

Freese most recently worked with the Offspring, and has spent much of his career as a session drummer (where he recently appeared on the latest albums from both M83 and 100 gecs). He has contributed to records by Lana Del Rey, Rob Zombie, Bruce Springsteen and more. Freese also has experience touring having been a member of Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and more throughout his live career.

The band teased who might be joining Foo Fighters in the beginning of the livestream, with cameos from Chad Smith, Tommy Lee and Danny Carey.

Foo Fighters’ concert will continue streaming on Veeps until May 24. The band kicks off their summer tour at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire on May 24 with further stops including Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits, Louder Than Life and amphitheater dates in Spokane, Washington, South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Phoenix and more.
