The Music Week Awards 2023 were handed out at Evolution London in Battersea Park, May 24. Several UK live professionals and companies were amongst the winners.

CAA’s Emma Banks won the Strat Award, Music Week’s top honor handed to an industry icon each year. Hitmaker and CAA client Becky Hill presented Banks with the prestigious prize. Artists and execs payed tribute to the nine-time winner of Pollstar’s UK Agent of the Year Award via video, including Katy Perry, Tenacious D, Sharleen Spiteri, Sony Music Group chairman Rob Stringer, Warner Music Group Recorded Music CEO Max Lousada, Universal Music UK CEO/chairman David Joseph, and Live Nation UK and Ireland chairman Denis Desmond.

Kilimanjaro Live won Promoter of the Year 2023, after coming out stronger than ever from the pandemic, and delivering its most successful year ever. Past year’s highlights include a million tickets sold for Ed Sheeran’s “Mathematics Tour,” which also won IQ Magazine’s Tour of the Year Award 2022.

The Music Week honor is the second Promoter of the Year Award for Kilimanjaro Live in short succession, after also winning in the same category at the LIVE Awards 2022.

These awards are a testament to the excellent work done by the core leadership team of Stuart Galbraith, Alan Day, Steve Tilley, and Zac Fox.

Galbraith is one of Pollstar’s 2022 Impact International Honorees. He told Pollstar when speaking for his honors last November, that he’s “most proud of the team that we have at Kili,” a team that has grown to more than 110 people.

Commenting on the Music Week Awards win, he commented, “This award is testament to the unfaltering dedication and hard work of every member of our Kilimanjaro Live team. The entire live promotion industry has endured the toughest of times as we’ve weathered the storm of the pandemic and global financial turbulence, but what audiences demand are outstanding live experiences, and that’s what we’ve been proud to deliver yet again over the past year. We thank all the incredible artists and talent that we’re blessed to work with, and we dedicate this award to everyone working in live promotion. Let us continue to push the boundaries to make those precious live moments on stage outstanding for audiences and performers alike.”

Jamie Oborne of All On Red took home Manager Of The Year in recognition of The 1975’s worldwide success, as well as his work with acts including Beabadoobee and Pale Waves. The Festival Of The Year gong, which returned for the first time since the pandemic, went to Reading & Leeds festivals, promoted by Melvin Benn’s Festival Republic/Live Nation.

UTA was named Live Music Agency of the year, while the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, England, won the Grassroots Venue category, which is decided by public vote, and supported by the UK’s Music Venue Trust. Dice was named Ticketing Company of the year.

According to Music Week, the May 24 ceremony at Exhibition London welcomed more than 1,400 guests, making it the publication’s biggest edition to date.
