Scottish Event Campus Appoints New Director Of Operations

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) today announced the appointment of Colin Hartley (47) from Glasgow, “one of Scotland’s most experienced major events professionals,” according to the announcement.

Hartley’s 20-plus year career includes positions at some of Scotland’s biggest events, including the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, where he was responsible for over 700 paid staff, 27 venues, 4,000 volunteers, and a cultural program involving three live sites.

He was also director for the 2015 FIG World Gymnastics Championships, hosted at the OVO Hydro, and was head of festival operations for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The SEC is gearing up to host some significant events over the next few years, including the 92nd Interpol General Assembly in November 2024. Concert’s this year include Elton John, Shania Twain, Deacon Blue, and more. The Campus will also host exhibitions and other event genres, including the Scottish Wedding Show, and IRNBRU Carnival later this year.

As well as overseeing the operations around all events, Hartly will play an integral role in helping the SEC meet its ambitious strategy of becoming net zero by 2030.
