Sir Elton John will bring his record-setting “Farewell Yellow Brick Road World Tour,” which earlier this year became the highest grossing tour of all time surpassing Ed Sheeran’s $776 million “Divide Tour,” to a close at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, July 7-8.

It was no easy task getting there with these shows on the AEG Presents-promoted tour rescheduled three times since 2020.

“All of us at Stockholm Live and ASM Global are looking forward to the Sir Elton weekend,” said Andreas Sand, VP and GM at Stockholm Live, the ASM Global business running the
arena. “Not only because he is a great entertainer, but because you can feel the anticipation among the fans here, who, due to the pandemic, have been waiting almost three years for his arrival.

“The fact that this might be his absolute last performance on stage will make the show on July 8 a night for the history books. The party will most certainly start long before Sir Elton arrives in Stockholm and continue for a while after he has left. This is one of these shows that also creates history and legacy for a venue so we are truly pleased to host it at Tele2 Arena.”

At press time, the Rocket Man was in the middle of a three-night residency at Accor Arena in Paris, France. Nicolas Dupeux, CEO of Paris Entertainment Company (PEC), the umbrella organization running the building, told Pollstar that it’s “these types of historic events that our hospitality teams and our technical teams work tirelessly for 24/7.” Therefore, he added, “my feeling of pride is shared by all the Accor Arena teams.”

Dupeux said John’s June 28 concert will mark his 31st live concert at Accor Arena. “His very first concert took place on March 18, 1986, a little more than two years after the inauguration of the hall.

“In the same way as Madonna or Prince, he is one of the legends that saw us grow up and who were involved in the development of the Arena and in the making of its own history.”

The annual POLLSTAR ranking of the concert industry’s top performing artists is tabulated for all Worldwide shows played between 11/17/22 to 5/17/23. All ticket sales figures are calculated in U.S. dollars and are based on reported information and extensive research by POLLSTAR.
