Ed Sheeran Sets Baltic Sales Record
Nine months ahead of Ed Sheeran’s two shows at the recently renovated Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas, Lithuania, promoters have announced a new sales record for the region.
According to a press release from local promoter L Tips, who promotes the two concerts alongside FKP Scorpio, the first concert, scheduled for Aug. 3, 2024, sold out in just over 24 hours, while the second one the day after already sold more than half the available tickets.
The capacity for both shows is more than 90,000 in total.
This means, that “9 months before the actual date, Ed Sheeran’s only concerts in the Baltics this year break all previous entertainment sales records across our entire region,” according to the press release.
FKP Scorpio founder and CEO Folkert Koopmans said, “By selling the most tickets of any artist in the Baltics, Ed Sheeran has set yet another record. We’re proud and happy to be promoting the shows and couldn’t have done so without the support of all local stakeholders and our partner agencies. L Tips Agency’s work has been invaluable in making the second-ever music concert in Kaunas stadium possible. We’re already looking forward to seeing everything coming together in August 2024!”
Gints Putnins, pwner of L Tips Agency, added, “We are organizing Ed Sheeran’s concerts in the Baltics for the 3rd time, and every time we are pleasantly surprised by the growing love of the audience. In 2019, he set the record for the most visited international artist show of all time in Latvia with attendance of approximately 50,000 people. Now a new record has been set for the whole of the Baltics!”
Even the mayor of Kaunas, Visvaldas Matijošaitis, gave an official statement, seeing that these concerts confirm that the multi-million-dollar renovation of the stadium made sense.
”Kaunas is delighted to see successful events happening in the city, particularly in recently developed constructions, such as S. Darius and S. Girėnas Stadium. The best display of this success is in the testimony of past and upcoming events – such as two Ed Sheeran concerts in August, 2024,” he commented.
“We hope the concert-goers not only enjoy wonderful music performed by the artist, but will also enjoy the city itself as it has so much to offer – last year’s European Capital of Culture, with its modernist architecture recently included into UNESCO World Heritage List! As a city we are eager to provide the best experiences for city guests and we also look forward to learning from these occasions to have even more events in the foreseeable future,” Matijošaitis added.
Sven Nuutmann, CEO of Piletilevi Group, which owns the ticket agencies through which the Ed Sheeran tickets were sold, commented, the sale has been “the fastest sell-out in Piletilevi Group AS and its subsidiaries in 26 years history in the Baltic States. Ed Sheeran concert tickets where found on www.bilietai.lt webshop by fans from more than 60 countries.”
