The O2, London has unveiled 24 events from its 2024 calendar, which suggest that the team running the iconic building isn’t resting on its laurels from a record-breaking 2023. From huge concerts spanning all genres to comedy to podcasts, the O2 continues the varied program it is famous for.
The O2 closed out 2023 having sold more than 2.5 million arena tickets, by its own admission. Rock, pop, and rap shows including Blink-182, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Busta Rhymes contributed to over 865,000 tickets sold.
The O2’s 2023 country lineup, which included a sold-out Country-to-Country Festival in March, sold a total of 130,000 tickets. Another highlight was Morgan Wallen’s recent headline show at the venue, which saw the highest number of tickets sold by a Country artist at the venue.
The Dec. 3 concert sold a total of 18,046 tickets, grossing $1,870,421, according to the Pollstar Boxoffice.
Next year’s highlight include headline shows from Take That, Olivia Rodrigo, Liam Gallagher, Michael McIntyre, The Killers, Girls Aloud, as well as the return of Country-to-Country Festival, The BRIT Awards, and more. All of The O2’s 24 highlights for 2024 below.
Responsible for The O2’s impressive program each year is Emma Bownes, VP of venue programming at AEG Europe. Commenting on last year’s record, she said, “What has been particularly exciting to see is that our record-breaking ticket sales have been across such a broad range of genres, from country to comedy, RnB to Rock. We’re so grateful to the artists, promoters, agents, managers, and all the touring teams involved for bringing such incredible shows to The O2 arena this year. We look forward to an even bigger and better 2024 with some amazing artists already confirmed and lots more to come.”
Emma Bownes is a 2023 Pollstar and VenuesNow Impact International honoree. Speaking about one of next year’s highlights, she told VenuesNow, “one highlight that really stands out is announcing our first carbon removed arena events across four shows with The 1975 in February 2024. Alongside sustainable event specialists A Greener Future, these shows will use a range of carbon removal methods to physically extract the carbon generated by these shows from the atmosphere and durably store this out of harm’s way. Hopefully these shows will be the first step on the path to helping the live events industry to reach genuine net-zero.”
