The Independent Celebrates 20 Years With André 3000, Young The Giant & More
The Independent is celebrating 20 years in San Francisco, and it’s hosting shows every night from Feb. 22 to 29 to mark the occasion. Neil Francis, TOKiMONSTA, André 3000, DJ Trixie Mattel, Young the Giant, Emotional Oranges, Red Estate and Reggie Watts will all take the stage throughout the week.
“When we opened this venue 20 years ago, we all wanted it to be iconic, while staying completely independent,” Allen Scott, co-founder and co-owner of The Independent, said in a statement. “Now, not only has it stayed true to its original vision, but it’s become a leader and destination for live concerts in San Francisco and throughout the country.”
Since first opening its doors two decades ago, The Independent has hosted more than 5,500 concerts and over 2 million concert-goers have enjoyed its shows. The building also used to house iconic clubs such as the Justice League, Kennel Club, Crash Palace and The Half Note. The Independent is promoted exclusively by Another Planet Entertainment.
TOKiMONSTA, booked by WME and represented by 2+2 Management, recently joined ODESZA on tour. The producer and DJ last headlined The Independent on Aug. 7, 2022, grossing $19,395 for the sold-out performance. Neil Francis was recently in San Francisco, headlining The Regency Ballroom on Nov. 3, grossing $23,155.
Tickets for the shows go on sale Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. PT at www.theindependentsf.com.
