AO Arena Details Capacity Increase

As previously reported, AO Arena Manchester has completed its redevelopment. Now, operator ASM Global detailed the capacity increase of the main hall, which stands at 23,000.

The standing floor capacity was increased by 100% to 6,200, “supported by a brand-new lower concourse designed to enhance the experience of the venue’s standing floor fans,” a press release rads.

The redevelopment of AO Arena, which opened 30-year ago, is set for completion in March. Most remarkably, the feat has will have been achieved while leaving doors open to entertain fans for the duration of the renovations.

Already among UK’s and Europe’s biggest arenas, the team “is delighted to welcome more fans than ever before.

ASM Global Europe president Chris Bray commented, “As part of AO Arena’s redevelopment we have dramatically expanded the standing floor space which means it will compete with any other venue in the UK. Its unique bowl configuration means that AO Arena proudly remains the biggest sporting indoor arena, and we are excited to continue to host the world’s biggest and most exciting events here in the heart of Manchester.”
