The Black Music Action Coalition  is partnering with Live Nation to launch an intensive music business course and paid internship program to train the next generation of industry professionals.

Kicking off this summer, the program will offer non-college-bound aspiring music business professionals from across the country an all-expenses paid weeklong course in Los Angeles educating on a broad range of roles in the live music industry. It will include keynote talks with industry players including musicians and Live Nation executives.

Eachj participant will be offered a four-month paid internship at Live Nation with a group of participants selected to join Live Nation’s new ‘School of Live Apprenticeship Program’ for additional training, as well as a six-month paid apprenticeship and potential for long term job placement.

“BMAC is proud to partner with Live Nation to launch this program and help create opportunities and access for Black professionals interested in pursuing a career in the live music industry,” said BMAC Co-Founder, President and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers. “BMAC is in this mission towards equity for the long haul and we are honored to have the support from Live Nation to allow key staff and operations to continue this work.”

Live Nation has invested in the operational support for BMAC.

“Our School of Live learning center uniquely positions us to offer aspiring live music talent with valuable hands-on training and insights from some of the most notable professionals in our industry,” said Omar Al-joulani, Co-President, Live Nation Concerts. “Creating this one-of-a-kind program with BMAC helps us reach often overlooked talent, giving them tools and opportunities that will prepare and shape them into the future leaders of our industry.”

Finding the next generation of live music industry professionals — particularly on the crewing side — has been a major talking point since the end of the pandemic, which caused a significant percentage of older and experienced workers to leave the business.

The 2024 BMAC x Live Nation Program applications are scheduled to open March 2024. To learn more about the program and to receive application notifications, please visit https://www.bmacoalition.org/bmaclivenation.
