2024 Women of Live: Amy Davidman
Partner & Agent | TBA Agency
When Amy Davidman and four other former Paradigm agents joined together to launch TBA Agency in September 2020, less than six months after the staff was furloughed from Paradigm because of the pandemic, the news was met with praise from artists and managers. Goldenvoice President/CEO Paul Tollett offered his support, saying, “This team has consistently delivered great moments for Coachella and Goldenvoice over the years, so we will be harvesting their roster for gems in the future.”
Davidman and the team have continued championing indie artists. And Tollett has kept his word. Asked about her highlights of the past year, Davidman says, “We started working with Brazilian superstar Ludmilla. She’s massive in her home country already headlining festivals and acting as a major brand ambassador. Our first booking was getting her on Coachella. This is the biggest stage for her to make her debut in North America. It shows our interest in the global market, bridging the live industry across the world, and making sure we continue to reach outside our comfort zone to find talent who represent their countries, communities, and identities. She is a Black queer icon and activist with an amazing ability to connect with fans and we’re excited to help introduce her to a new fanbase.”
During her 25 years in the live business, Davidman has worked for Bowery Ballroom, High Road Touring and Windish Agency before it was acquired by Paradigm. She previously spent a year in Chile learning the South American market and signing a number of Latin acts like Ana Tijoux and Mexican Institute of Sound. Her diverse roster also includes Devendra Banhart, Hiatus Kaiyote, Caribou and Cuco, to name a few.
Davidman says she’s encouraged by young people taking a stand, but notes that “they need stronger allies. We need the live industry to rally around women, non-binary, and trans young people.”
What’s next for Davidman? She says, “I am constantly in search of ways that TBA Agency can collaborate with organizations like Amplify Her Voice, She is The Music, Women in Music or Calling All Crows. I expect in the next year to be able to announce further partnerships and projects that will help these organizations with their initiatives and reach.”
