Heartland Denmark Presents Exclusive Performance By Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean & YG Marley
Heartland, scheduled to take place June 13-15 at Egeskov Castle on Funen, Denmark, will host a landmark performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill on June 13, her only one in Europe this year.
This special night will not only be a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the seminal Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, but also the first time in 20 years that Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean will share a stage in Europe together, joined by Hill’s son YG Marley, for whom it marks the first appearance in Europe.
According to a press release from Heartland, “Ms. Hill will perform her iconic Miseducation album, as well as Fugees classics with bandmate Wyclef Jean. Jean, will also perform music from his groundbreaking solo releases.”

This performance promises a journey through musical history. “It’s a major scoop for us that Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean have agreed to put together a unique and exclusive concert set for our audience at this year’s Heartland Festival,” said Heartland MD Ulrik Ørum-Petersen.
“For a generation, Fugees’ The Score, and Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill are seen as two of the most important and groundbreaking albums of the late 90s, and with more than 42 million albums sold, they are undeniably milestones in modern music history. It will without a doubt be a night to remember at Egeskov Castle,” he continued.
Pollstar reached out to the team at Heartland, to find out how this incredible booking came about. Ørum-Petersen said, “I’ve been in discussions with Ms. Lauryn Hill, her manager Josh, and the agency since the fall about doing Heartland. She really liked the unique concept of the festival that we presented to her and was keen to do something special for us in this window even though she would not be touring. It was Ms. Hills own idea to put together this special tailor made set with Wyclef and YG Marley doing both Miseducation and Fugees songs, and, to say the least, we were over the moon when we heard about her thoughts. It took quite some time to put the deal together, but we are very happy it ended up getting done.”
Heartland launched in 2016. Live Nation has held a majority stake (70%) in the festival since its inception. This year will be the festivals 7th edition. “Last year was our biggest edition so far with more than 65,000 festival goers over three days enjoying music, art, talks, and food,” said Ørum-Petersen, citing the four pillars, on which the whole festival is built.
He concluded, “It’s always exciting when these special moments and opportunities ends up becoming a reality and I am sure we will look back at this particular night with Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and YG Marley as a major highlight in our festivals history.”
Lauryn Hill has been touring North America and Australia in celebration of the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’s 25th anniversary in 2023, joined by The Fugees in North America.
