39 Performances, 600,000 Tickets Sold: Take That Break Own O2 Record

Take That brought “This Life on Tour” to The O2 for a six-night residency that concluded Wednesday, May 1. The six concerts brought the band’s total tally of O2 performances up to 39 performances, which marks a new record.

The old record of 33 shows at the O2 was also held by Take That. They set it in 2019, during their “Greatest Hits Live” tour in celebration of the band’s 30th anniversary. The tour stopped at The O2 for eight concerts in total, May 2-10, selling 102,726 tickets for a whooping $11,622,902 gross, according to the Pollstar Boxoffice.

The band has now sold over 600,000 tickets for their shows at The O2, by the building’s own admission.

This year’s residency was brought to life by a 16-piece brass band performing Take That songs for guests on arrival. In addition, a merchandise store was opened within Outlet Shopping at The O2.

A comment from Take That reads, “We can’t believe we’ve the record for the most shows by an artist at The O2! We are so proud of every tour we’ve brought to this venue and are so grateful for all the fans who continue to come and see us here. Thank you London and to everyone at The O2 for always making us feel so welcome.”

Emma Bownes, vice president of venue programming at AEG Europe, and a 2024 VenuesNow Women of Live honoree, added: “Every time Take That come to The O2, the excitement levels are through the roof and we are so fortunate to have welcomed them for multiple tours. Their live shows are unforgettable and we feel honoured to present them with an award for the most amount of performances at our venue. A huge thank you goes to the band, all of their team and of course to the fans for bringing so much joy to the venue. We hope they come back to see us again soon.”

The sold-out award for Take That is made from sustainable materials, it features imagery of Take That’s shows at the venue, along with a piece of The O2’s own tent fabric.
