Peter Cat Recording Co. Announce 77-Date Tour, Khruangbin Shows, New Album
Peter Cat Recording Co., an India-based five piece band, has announced a 77-date tour in support of BETA, their new record out Aug. 9th (Muddy Water) and their first single dropping today. The run includes a mix of headline dates and support shows for Khruangbin,
The group’s “Good Luck Beta ’24 Tour,” runs across three continents—North America, Europe and India. The tour kicks off with three nights at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre Aug. 14-16 and runs through December with six dates in India. U.S. stops include NYC’s Irving Plaza and Brooklyn Steel; D.C.’s 9:30 Club; Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl; Chicago’s Vic Theatre; L.A.’s Wiltern Theater, Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneer Town Palace in Pioneertown. Based out of Delhi, Peter Cat Recording Co. was founded in 2009. Its members include Suryakant Sawhney, Karan Singh, Dhruv Bhola, Rohit Gupta and Kartik Sundareshan Pillai.
Today, KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic debuted the song “People Never Change”, the first single from “BETA.” The song will go live on DSP’s tonight at midnight.
Beta, the new album was produced by Sawhney, Kartik Pillai, Dhruv Bhola, and Peter Cat Recording Co., The album title was chosen by the drummer Singh’s 6-month-old son who picked the word BETA out of a hat. The word means “Child” in Hindi in addition to being a letter of the Greek alphabet and a “nearly complete prototype.”
