Seth Shomes has come a long way since reopening Day After Day Productions three years ago with basically a laptop, a few clients and a lot of pluck. His company has grown, adding agents and marketing staff, and DADP now represents more than 40 artists.

This year, Shomes and DADP booked the first headlining arena tour for 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and hip-hop icon Missy Elliott.

“In my almost 30 years as an agent, I have been fortunate enough to work on so many amazing projects with incredible clients, but booking the iconic Missy Elliott’s first ever headlining tour has been a crown jewel that I am immensely proud of,” Shomes tells Pollstar. “As a company, I am also excited to not only see our agency’s astounding growth in only three years, but also the growth of so many of our colleagues that started with little to no experience.”

Other DADP tours include the “Queens of R&B” tour with Xscape and SWV and “An Evening of Icons” tour featuring The Commodores and The Pointer Sisters with The Spinners and El DeBarge celebrating Motown’s 65th anniversary.

“Over the last 12 months we have taken our learnings from the right (and wrong) decisions we made and now have a top-notch booking system, database, marketing team and leadership team that has really made an impact,” Shomes says. “One of my mottos is to be a student every day and with our combination of experienced and hungry younger colleagues we are flourishing in a super competitive environment. And doing it with class, ethics and a smile.”

Being an impactful force in any industry takes something other than a formulaic approach to business.

“I don’t believe in luck, I believe in dedication, hard work and perseverance,” Shomes says. “We don’t wait for opportunities to land at our doorstep, we hustle and make things happen for our clients. I am always excited by advances in technology and how we can harness them to be at our most effective to service our roster.”
