The Cream HQ at Live Nation, promoters of Creamfields, have announced “their most ambitious sustainability initiatives to date,” to be rolled out at this year’s festival, Aug. 22-25.

Dubbed Cleanfields, it’s “a comprehensive three-year plan aimed at preserving the 600-acre festival site,” in Daresbury, Cheshire.

Creamfield South, which took place in Chelmsford for the past two years, won’t return in 2024. Creamfields North is now just Creamfields again.

The initiative is rolled out in partnership with sustainability impact agency betternotstop, with the primary goal of encouraging attendees to adopt more environmentally responsible habits.

Key elements of the Cleanfields pledge include keeping camps clean, and taking tents back home; minimizing what guests bring, and utilizing onsite stores for essentials; opting for public transport whenever possible; and discarding recycle materials at the recycling points throughout the campsites.

There’ll be a dedicated Cleanfields campsite, as well as crew on site to help and engage with festivalgoers.

A major focus of Cleanfields is to educate attendees about the environmental impact of festival waste, particularly tents and camping gear left behind, including explaining that tents are generally not recyclable and therefore create more waste.

Attendees will find a variety of recycling points across the site. Filling and returning bin bags will come with opportunities to win rewards, returning 50 cups to the cup exchange will earn guests free drink tokens. Free water refill points encourage the use of reusable bottles.

To encourage the use of public transport a partnership with Big Green Coach is back in place, operating services from across the UK. There’ll be shuttles operating from nearby stations direct to site. Promoters also point toward Liftshare and Go Car Share to get visitors to share rides on their way to and from the festival.
