Coldplay Set Finnish Ticket Sales Record
Coldplay celebrated a couple of records on their first visit to Helsinki, Finland, where the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” stopped for four nights at the capital’s Olympic Stadium, July 27-31.
The British band played in front of a total of more than 178,000 people, averaging some 44,500 per show.
According to Live Nation Finland, these figures mark the highest ticket sales for a single artist or band in Finland on one visit. It was also the first time one tour stopped at the Olympic Stadium for four nights in a row. In the past, no more than two concerts on the same tour have been seen at the building.
Metallica performed twice, Jun 7&9, gathering a total of 105,000 spectators, according to Live Nation Finland, which marked both Metallica’s largest audience in Finland to date, and a double- concert audience record for the Olympic Stadium since its reopening in 2020. U2 performed twice in a row Aug. 20-21, 2010, selling 106,360 tickets at a $10,642,517 gross. Their famous 360-stage allowed for this kind of capacity. One Direction performed twice at a reduced capacity in 2015, June 27-28, selling a total of 33,325 tickets at a $2,524,217 gross, according to the report submitted to Pollstar at the time.
Coldplay announced their first visit to Finland in July 2023, and ended up doing four nights in total. The show on Sunday, July 28, marked the 150th gig on the “Music of the Spheres World Tour”.
