MTV Pushes VMAs Back Due To Presidential Debate
The MTV Video Music Awards will now be airing on Wednesday, Sept. 11, after Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump agreed to a televised debate on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The show was initially scheduled to also take place on Sept. 10, but the broadcasting network opted to push the ceremony back a night in order to not conflict with the debate.
The ceremony is now scheduled to air at 8 p.m. ET on Sept. 11.
MTV has encouraged its audience to vote since the 1992 election. Performers for this year’s awards ceremony include Camila Cabello, recent Pollstar cover artist Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro and Sabrina Carpenter.

The venue, owned by Oak View Group, Pollstar’s parent company, has hosted performances by Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Stapleton, Dua Lipa, Drake, Harry Styles, Zach Bryan and more since it first opened its doors in 2021.
Taylor Swift currently leads this year’s nominations with 10 nominations including artist, video and song of the year.
