Southern California casino operator Agua Caliente Casinos has named Nick Sitar its new director of entertainment, where he will be oversee entertainment at the company’s California properties in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs and Cathedral City.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nick to our team,” shared Saverio R. Scheri III, chief operating officer at Agua Caliente Casinos. “His vast experience and proven track record in the entertainment industry make him the perfect fit to drive our entertainment division forward elevating the variety and caliber of acts we bring to our three premier entertainment venues.”

Sitar has more than a decade of experience in the live entertainment industry, including most recently as regional director of entertainment programming at Caesars Entertainment, handling the casino giant’s non-Vegas properties.

Agua Caliente venues include the 2,101-seat The Show in Rancho Mirage, which just hosted Rod Stewart this weekend, the Cascade Lounge in downtown Palm Springs and the Agave Caliente Terraza at Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City.

Sitar, splitting time between the SoCal desert and the nearby wine country of Temecula, said he was eager to work at a venue like The Show, designed and intended for music and with an already-strong reputation within the touring industry.

“I was actually surprised within my first week and second week here at how many artists reached out to us to play our venue, which was a great sign,” Sitar told Pollstar shortly after taking the position. “Coming into a place where the load-in was easy, where they actually have fully outfitted wardrobe rooms and production offices for their tour managers, they really thought of the small details here.”

A musician himself, Sitar said those details lead to a better experience for artists and fans, which pays off immediately.

“That’s what I’ve always wanted, a place that artists want to come back to, not just because we’re paying them but because they want to play here,” Sitar said.

Sitar’s previous experience includes roles as entertainment buyer and  producer at Anthology Live and working with the artist-produced “Is For Lovers” music festival with Hawthorne Heights in Lake Tahoe and Iowa. Additionally, Sitar served as a special events program coordinator for the City of Carlsbad.

Previous entertainment director at Agua Caliente is Monica Reeves.
