Iconic German hard rock band Scorpions has been forced to call off dates in their home country because of an injury sustained by guitarist Matthias Jabs. The band didn’t reveal details of the injury other than saying in an announcement on its website that Jabs “requires surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.”

The announcement notes that the cancellation “hit the band hard, as they were in the final stretch of their ‘Love At First Sting’ world tour. They deeply regret this decision and apologize to the more than 40,000 fans who have already purchased tickets, as well as to the event organizers.”

The run of German dates were set to begin Sept. 11 at Arena Nürnberger Versicherung in Nuremberg, followed by shows at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Quarterback Immobilien Arena in Leipzig, Lanxess Arena in Cologne and Festhalle in Frankfurt. The band has also canceled its Sept. 7 show at City Sports Hall Slavie, which is located in Havířov, Czech Republic.

Scorpions released their 19th studio album, Rock Believer, in 2022 via Vertigo Records featuring the songs “Rock Believer,” “Peacemaker” and “Shining of your Soul.” This marked the band’s first studio album in seven years since 2015’s Return to Forever.

The band released a joint statement on its website, listed below:

“We deeply regret, especially Matthias Jabs, that due to the accident of our friend and Scorpions lead guitarist, the five concerts on our German tour cannot take place in September as planned and we will work closely with the tour organizer to announce new information as soon as possible. We kindly ask for your understanding from all our fans, all the Rock Believers in Germany who were looking forward to the shows with us.

Klaus, Rudolf, Mikkey und Pawel.“

Scorpions is booked by International Talent Booking’s Rod MacSween.

Reports submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice for Scorpions include a July 16 show at WiZink Center in Madrid, Spain, that sold 12,928 tickets and grossed $1,267,439 (1,163,520 euros)
