ASM Global announced the “Month of Giving” in collaboration with Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity.

Launching in September, the fundraising initiative aims to raise vital funds to support Nordoff and Robbins’ transformative work, which uses the power of music to help break through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability, and social isolation.

ASM Global’s venues in the UK decided to join forces to raise money towards this cause. The list of participating buildings includes AO Arena, first direct Arena, Utilita Arena Newcastle, OVO Arena Wembley, P&J Live, and York Barbican.

They will be donating “money-can’t-buy experiences as raffle prizes, promoting the charity at on digital screens on event nights, and incorporating donation points both in-event and via online booking channels, allowing fans to make a direct contribution to Nordoff and Robbins when purchasing their tickets,” a press release announcing the “Month of Giving” explains.

Each year, Nordoff and Robbins’ trained music therapists work with thousands of vulnerable people across the UK, who have conditions ranging from autism to dementia, learning difficulties to brain injuries, life-limiting illnesses to mental health issues, grief and trauma.

The work these therapists do is creating space for individuals to express themselves and find connection in society.

ASM Global’s “Month of Giving” aims to enable Nordoff and Robbins to expand their services even further than ever before, reaching more children and adults nationwide, and protecting current and future funding for music therapy delivery, education and research.

In addition, members of the ASM Global team, who are up for the challenge, will be taking part in Music Mudder, an endurance event organized by Wasserman Music in aid of Nordoff and Robbins.

Music Mudder sees groups from across the music industry take on a muddy 10-kilometer obstacle course in support of a great cause. In addition, ASM Global will make a long-term commitment to donating to Nordoff and Robbins via its conference and exhibition bookings from 2025 onwards.

Chris Bray, President of ASM Global, Europe commented, “With a shared mission to make music therapy accessible to those who need it most, we are delighted to announce our first ASM Global ‘Month of Giving’ in the UK. We entered into partnership with Nordoff and Robbins in 2023, and as a team we are incredibly proud to expand this further with an entire month dedicated to such a deserving cause. Their work makes a real difference, harnessing the power of music to transform the lives of people with life limiting illnesses, disabilities and social isolation. Every donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small, so I encourage everyone visiting an ASM Global venue to join forces with us in support of the brilliant work of Nordoff and Robbins.”

Sandra Schembri, CEO of Nordoff and Robbins, added, “Music therapy is about taking music’s power as a connector and communicator and making it available to those who can’t access it on their own – whether for a child struggling to speak, a parent living with dementia or a loved one living with life altering injuries. With demand for Nordoff and Robbins’ services rising, our long-standing partnership with ASM Global and the funding it brings is incredibly important in helping us to continue our work, giving more people access to the care and support they need. We are excited to be part of ASM Global’s first Month of Giving and look forward to seeing fundraising initiatives launch across their fantastic portfolio of venues and events.”

This partnership with Nordoff and Robbins is supported by ASM Global’s corporate social responsibility platform, ASM Global Acts, which launched in October 2021 to protect the environment, invest in people and strengthen communities around the globe. By ASM Global’s own admission, “these programs are activated at both the corporate and local level, creating value at scale within communities.”
