Save The Music To Honor Live Nation Women’s Ali Harnell, Brittney Spencer and Maren Morris

Save The Music will honor Ali Harnell, President of Live Nation Women, recent Pollstar cover artist Brittney Spencer and Grammy-winning artist Maren Morris at the fifth annual “Hometown to Hometown” event at City Winery Nashville.

Today’s announcement notes that the Oct. 15 event will celebrate these amazing women’s “contributions to the music industry and their passion for music education.” All funds raised from the evening will support music technology programs in under-resourced high schools in Nashville, Baltimore, and Dallas.

“This year’s ‘Hometown to Hometown’ event is especially exciting as we celebrate our fifth year and, for the second time, feature an all-female roster of executives, songwriters, and artists,” Danielle Zalaznick, Deputy Executive Director and Chief Development Officer of SaveThe Music, said in a statement. “We’re incredibly grateful to Ali, Brittney, Maren, and all of this year’s performers for empowering young people through music. Since Save The Music first teamed up with Ross Copperman in 2019, the Nashville music and songwriter community has funded 12 music education programs through this annual event, enabling thousands of students to make music during the school day.”

The event will be co-hosted by CMT’s Leslie Fram and CMT’s “Next Women of Country” inductee, Angie K, with special acoustic performances from Americana, country and roots artists Spencer, Morris, Abbey Cone, Allison Russell (with Ruby Amanfu), Brandy Clark and Joy Oladokun. Hometown to Hometown will also feature appearances by Kellie Morris (mother of Maren Morris), Beverly Keel (Dean of MTSU’s College of Media and Entertainment and music activist), and more.

Harnell is a longtime Save the Music advisor who is a leader in the industry for elevating female-led tours and events. She’s produced tours for Morris, Brandi Carlile and Oprah Winfrey. Last year she spoke to Pollstar about her involvement with putting on the “Love Rising” benefit concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena that benefitted LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations with a lineup featuring Allison Russell, Jason Isbell, Maren Morris, Joy Oladokun and Amanda Shires, among others (grossing $652,447, according to Pollstar Boxoffice). Today’s announcement says that “as an active fundraiser, she has helped raise tens of millions of dollars collectively for causes and nonprofits, producing large-scale benefit events annually.” In March Harnell was honored by Pollstar as part of our Women Of Live Hall of Fame.

Spencer was featured on the cover of Pollstar in August. Her recent highlights include performing on the “Outlaw Music Festival,” headlined by Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, and releasing her debut full-length, My Stupid Life, on Elektra, which has earned critical acclaim and includes guest appearances by Morris, Isbell and Grace Potter.

As a longtime Save the Music supporter, Spencer performed at the 2023 edition of Hometown to Hometown and at last year’s Music Saves L.A. event.

Morris released a new cover of the Billy Idol classic “Dancing With Myself” earlier this year following her 2023 EP, The Bridge. Today’s announcement explains Morris “is being recognized not only for her industry achievements but for her music education advocacy.”
