Support + Feed, GOAL Team Up For Sustainability Activations During Billie Eilish’s Tour
Global superstar Billie Eilish has long been committed to living a sustainable lifestyle with a plant-based diet, and nine venues will be supporting her efforts during her “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour” this year.
Support + Feed, a nonprofit founded by Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, that promotes a plant-based diet to help combat climate change, and GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership), a program launched by Oak View Group (Pollstar’s parent company) that offers venues a comprehensive roadmap and resources to sustainable operations, have teamed up promote sustainability in food and beverage at nine venues for the pop star’s big tour by offering plant-based menu items, hosting plant-based food drives and encouraging fans to donate non-perishable plant-based foods.
The venues activating the key sustainability initiatives include CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Newark’s Prudential Center, PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Chicago’s United Center, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Portland’s Moda Center and the Kia Forum in Inglewood.
“We are honored to partner with GOAL in our mission to advance systemic change toward a more climate-friendly, just, and healthy food system through plant-based food initiatives within the sports and live entertainment industry,” said Baird, founder and president of Support + Feed. “This collaboration allows us to help inform new audiences in understanding what we eat matters, when it comes to the climate crisis and our inequitable food system. By engaging fans and increasing the availability of delicious, plant-based options, we can drive significant change and inspire healthier, and more environmentally friendly choices.”
In addition to offering plant-based concessions, each building will also have signage and messaging supporting Support + Feed’s cause as well as provide attendees resources and information on the benefits of plant-based lifestyle and choices.
The partnership allows GOAL members, a list that includes Fenway Sports Group, the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena, to reduce their scope 3 carbon emissions by offering plant-based food alternatives while creating opportunities for venues to support their communities with access to healthy food. The buildings will work with GOAL to measure water, waste and energy use associated with Eilish’s tour.
“We’re so excited to partner with Support + Feed to drive our collective vision of a more sustainable future,” Kristen Fulmer, director of GOAL and head of sustainability for Oak View Group, said in a statement. “We aim to translate the passion of artists, athletes, and climate advocates into tactical efforts that operators activate in their venue. This allows us to continue our mission of leveraging the influence of GOAL Member venues to offer more sustainable options for fans, and impact the industry.”
Eilish announced last week that she was partnering with REVERB, an organization that provides artists and festivals with comprehensive plans to reduce carbon and tour footprints, for her North American tour this year, and said, “Adopting a plant-based diet is one of the most impactful ways you can help heal our planet. Here are some great local plant-based options when you come to my shows.”
