Shakira Moves North American Tour Dates To Stadiums Due To Demand
Shakira is upgrading the North American dates of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” from arenas to stadiums, with the rescheduled dates now kicking off on May 13 at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. An announcement from producer/promoter Live Nation noted that the tour was moved “due to unprecedented fan demand” and that the trek would feature production changes to accommodate the larger venues.
The newly announced venues include a mix of baseball and football stadiums such as Boston’s Fenway Park; Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium; Arlington, Texas’ Globe Life Field; Inglewood, California’s SoFi Stadium and San Francisco’s Oracle Park. Shakira added a stop at Houston’s Toyota Center, while her arena dates at Phoenix’s Footprint Center, Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, and Montreal’s Bell Centre will still take place at those buildings, just months later. Previously purchased tickets in Phoenix, Detroit, Toronto and Montreal will be honoured for the new dates. As for the other performances, a post on Ticketmaster said refunds will be issued to the original method of payment within 14-21 days.
The North American routing, which was announced in April, was initially supposed to start in less than two weeks with a Nov. 2 show at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.
The dates now follow the Latin American leg of the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” which begins Feb. 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and runs through March, concluding in Mexico. Shakira recently made headlines for selling out 18 stadium shows in Latin America in less than two hours and becoming the first female artist to add a fifth show in Mexico City. She also became the first female artist to book five stadiums across the country of Colombia.
Prior to her landmark Super Bowl halftime performance alongside Jennifer Lopez in 2020, Shakira last toured North America in 2018. Highlights from the trek included two sold-out nights at the Forum in Inglewood, California, grossing $2.3 million.
Shakira is represented by WME worldwide.
An artist presale for the new dates is happening now through Tuesday, October 22 at 11:59 p.m. Additional presales are scheduled throughout the week, including a Citi cardmember presale. The general onsale starts Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. local time.
Other tours that have switched from arenas to stadiums include The Weeknd’s “After Hours ’til Dawn Global Stadium Tour,” which started in North America in July 2022 and has continued into 2024 with Australian dates in October.
