Alejandro Fernández Paying Tribute To His Iconic Father With ‘De Rey A Rey’ Tour
Alejandro Fernández announced he’ll be back on the road in 2025, but he’s doing it differently this time around. The artist from Guadalajara is honoring his father Vicente Fernández, a cultural icon who is often referred to as one of the greatest Mexican singers of all time, with “De Rey A Rey,” a 27-date North American trek during which Alejandro Fernández will sing his dad’s greatest hits.
The Live Nation-promoted tour not only serves as a tribute to Vicente Fernández’s career but also a celebration of the legacy of the Fernández family, which has been instrumental in the success of Mexican music for over five decades.
“I was born with two blessings,” Alejandro Fernández said in a release announcing the tour. “First, being born Mexican, and second, being born a Fernández. This tribute is not about me; it’s about Mexico, it’s about Vicente Fernández, in my voice and in all of our voices as we sing together the songs that have become a part of our common heritage.”
Alejandro Fernández’s “De Rey A Rey” tour kicks off May 10 at WAMU Theater at Lumen Field in Seattle, and the routing includes stops at SAP Center in San Jose, Anaheim’s Honda Center, HEB Center at Cedar Park in Austin, Chicago’s United Center, Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Fairfax’s EagleBank Arena and Kia Forum in Inglewood before wrapping up at Viejas Arena in San Diego on Sept. 21.
Fernández will also play two shows at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 13 and 15 to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
Along with unveiling tour dates, the Fernández also announced the release of a new single produced by Eden Muñoz, “No Me Se Rajar,” a cover of his father’s hit song from 1978.
Alejandro Fernández, who is booked by Star Productions S.C., is one of the most successful Mexican artists, with grosses surpassing $226 million off 287 headline reports since February of 1999, according to Pollstar Boxoffice. He performed two shows at MGM Grand Garden Arena this year, Sept. 14 and 15, and grossed $2,620,331 across both concerts.
