With 50 days to go until the 2024 United States presidential election, nonprofit #iVoted Concerts is marking the milestone by announcing details for its first election night concert. Fans will have the chance to get free tickets to see Cake perform at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas by checking their voter registration status or signing up for election alerts with nonprofit HeadCount.

“We are super happy to be part of the push to get Nevada voting at full capacity. Stakes are so high; let’s make it happen,” Cake frontman John McCrea said in a statement.

iVoted Concerts CEO Emily White added, “We couldn’t be more excited to kick off #iVoted’s free Fall concert series with one of our favorite bands and champions of democracy — the incredible CAKE!”’

An announcement from Biz 3 notes that Cake is just the band to take on the job as the Sacramento, California-based group’s “democratic processes, defiant self-reliance, and lucid yet ever-inventive music has made them a nation-state unto themselves, with no evident peers in sound or perspective.” Fans have been waiting quite some time for the follow-up to Cake’s most recent release, Showroom of Compassion — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and earned praise from New Yorker Magazine for its “deadpan brilliance” — and thankfully the band is working on a new LP due out in 2025.

“We are honored to host Cake on this immensely important night for America at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas,” concert promoter and Brooklyn Bowl owner Peter Shapiro said. “Wow, what a huge night this is going to be and to experience it live in real time at a show in the heart of Vegas is going to be EPIC.”

Doors for Cake’s Nov. 5 show at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m.

Tickets are available by checking one’s voter registration status or signing up for election alerts with HeadCount at www.headcount.org/ivoted-cake/ The site explains that after fans have taken action, instructions to redeem your ticket from Ticketmaster will be emailed from [email protected].

The non-partisan #iVoted was founded by entrepreneurs Emily White, Mike Luba, and Pat Sansone of Wilco and The Autumn Defense with a mission of increasing voter turnout by producing data-driven concerts on election night and during early voting periods. It is also one of the industry’s nonprofits that recently teamed up to form Music Votes, described as the first-ever industry-wide voter engagement coalition. The coalition was announced in June and was assembled and led by the Music Sustainability Alliance (MSA).

#iVoted Concerts is behind the Sept. 17 event at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Royal Oak, Michigan, which will feature a free performance by Lil Tecca and mark the first-ever mass registration of youth for clean jobs in U.S. history. Plus, Big Freedia is set to headline a Sept. 27 event at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, marking the first-ever mass registration of women for clean economy jobs in U.S. history.

For the Cake show at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, #iVoted Concerts is partnering with NextGen America and Calling All Crows.

Monday’s announcement explains that “Civic engagement in Nevada is a priority for Calling All Crow’s Voice Your Choice campaign, which educates music fans on issues of reproductive freedom, particularly in states with abortion is on the ballot.”

Attendees of the Brooklyn Bowl show will get access to Calling All Crow’s civic engagement platform that provides fans with party-neutral information about local and state ballot initiatives so they are well-informed on election issues.

The nonprofit organization was founded in 2008 by musician Chad Stokes and tour manager Sybil Gallagher with a mission of connecting music fans with feminist movements for justice and equality.

“Calling All Crows is thrilled to join forces with CAKE, #iVoted Concerts and NextGen America to drive voter engagement during this critical election year, ” CAC’s Executive Director Heatherjean MacNeil said.

NextGen America President and Executive Director Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez added, “NextGen America is proud to partner with #iVoted Concerts and Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas to host this exciting youth voter concert event. Connecting pop culture and art to the issues that impact young people’s everyday lives is a powerful way to make our democracy stronger. NextGen is excited about this partnership which helps us meet young people where they’re at and ensures they have the tools they need to cast their ballot.”

NextGen America’s mission is described as empowering “young voters to engage in the political process and ensure our government is responsive to the largest and most diverse generation in American history.”
