Cortex, a French music project founded by pianist, singer and composer Alain Mion, has been signed by The Kurland Agency for worldwide representation. With jazz, psychedelic rock, hip-hop, and other genre influences, Cortex has a unique sound characterized by intricate instrumentation and melodies.

Their 1975 album Troupeau Bleu has been sampled by a multitude of artists, including Madlib, MF Doom, Tyler the Creator, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Tyga, Lupe Fiasco, Wu Tang, Rick Ross and hundreds of others, showcasing their influence and appeal across the vast hip-hop landscape.

The band broke up in 1981 but reformed in 2009, and began touring again in earnest in the last two years across North America and Europe, making a name for itself with an engaging live performance.

Of shows reported to Pollstar, Cortex averages 1,133 tickets sold per show and a gross of $43,356. Touring highlights in 2024 include two sold-out nights at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles July 10-11, which sold 2,600 tickets and grossed $112,500. The band also notched sellouts at Thalia Hall in Chicago, Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon; and the Neptune in Seattle, among other stops.

Cortex is managed by Andrew Lojero at ArtDontSleep.
