Blue Note Jazz Club Expanding To LA With Robert Glasper Curating Opening Events
The Blue Note Jazz Club is adding another California city to its portfolio. After taking over Napa in 2016, the iconic jazz club will expand to Los Angeles in 2025 and open on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood in March.
LA’s new building has a 200-capacity main showroom as well as a “B side” room with a cap of 100 people to deliver an intimate atmosphere. The venue will have a full-service kitchen and beverage menu, offering brunch and dinner throughout the week.
The programming will be similar to that offered at the acclaimed New York location, which features world-class jazz performances from standout artists and rising stars as well as collaborations that take the genre to bold new directions.
“We are excited to bring the Blue Note experience to Los Angeles, offering the same intimate atmosphere and world-class performances that have defined our New York club,” Tsion Bensusan, COO of Blue Note Entertainment Group, said in a statement.
Five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper, who has partnered with Blue Note on various projects including his annual “Robtober” residency, will help launch the new venue by hosting and curating opening shows. The renowned pianist and songwriter also worked with Blue Note on its festivals and special events.
“I’m honored to partner up with Blue Note once again for what will be a significant cultural intersection for the Los Angeles community. Los Angeles has always been a second home to me, and I can’t wait to bring LA culture to the Blue Note,” says Glasper.
Blue Note also announced a partnership with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for the newly named Blue Note Jazz Festival — formerly known as the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival — which will be part of the Hollywood Bowl’s 2025 season. The full lineup will be announced on Feb. 18 along with the complete Hollywood Bowl’s season announcement. Tickets go on sale in May and can be purchased at hollywoodbowl.com.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Blue Note to launch the Blue Note Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl,” said LA Phil President and CEO Kim Noltemy. “This partnership represents a shared dedication to celebrating jazz and its extraordinary artists while continuing the legacy of world-class music at the Bowl. Together, we look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for jazz lovers in Los Angeles.”
Steven Bensusan, president of Blue Note Entertainment Group, added, “This collaboration represents a powerful union of two iconic institutions dedicated to celebrating jazz and its profound impact on music and culture.”
