Providence-backed ATG Entertainment Acquires Spanish Theater Business SOM Produce

ATG Entertainment announced that it has acquired SOM Produce, a preeminent theatre producer, operator and distributor in Spain. Financial terms were not disclosed. SOM Produce is a leading theatre producer and operator headquartered in Madrid and, with more than 750,000 tickets sold annually by its own admission, is one of the largest global producers and distributors of musicals and plays in the Spanish language. It manages five marquee theatres in the centre of Madrid – Nuevo Teatro Alcalá, Teatro Rialto, Teatro Nuevo Apolo, Teatro Calderón, and Teatro Amaya – and has produced over 20 iconic shows including Matilda, Mamma Mia!, Billy Elliot, The Book of Mormon, West Side Story, Grease, Chicago, Cabaret and, Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The company also produces and tours a range of celebrated theatre titles throughout Spain.

The five marquee theatres in Madrid managed by SOM Produce boas a total of 5,237 seats across the venues. The company was founded in 2011 by Jose María Cámara and Marcos Cámara together with Pilar Gutiérrez and Juanjo Rivero. In October 2025, it will premiere for the first time in Spain one of the most internationally acclaimed musicals: WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz. SOM Produce is also the leading creator of new jobs in musical theatre in Spain. In 2020, SOM Produce launched the SOM Academy, providing an official advanced centre for dramatic arts education.

ATG is backed by Providence Equity Partners. The company’s portfolio of venues includes historic theatres, studio theatres, cinemas, conference spaces, and live music arenas. ATG Entertainment owns, operates or programs 64 well-known venues across the UK, the US, and Germany entertaining over 18 million audience members each year by its own admission.

Through in-house production companies, as well as working with third-party producers and promoters, ATG presents over 15,000 live performances annually, including Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Starlight Express as well as popular music and comedy shows. ATG also owns a ticketing platform, atgtickets.com, processing more than 18 million tickets each year for musicals, plays, concerts, comedy shows and a variety of other live events. The company has offices in London, Woking, New York and Cologne.
