Wilco Adds Waxahatchee To New Round of Southern Dates

Wilcco1

Wilco announced a new block of dates for their “Sweet and Sour Spring 2025” tour with many stops featuring special guest Waxahatchee.

With appearances in Maimi, New Orleans, Houston, Nashville, Atlanta and more, the southern leg rounds out the band’s three continent slate for the first half of the year. The tour already included on-sale performances in Sao Paulo, London, Barcelona, Madrid and other E.U. destinations.

Four-time Grammy winning pacesetters, Wilco’s 2025 tour will include songs from two major catalog reissues: an expanded three LP version of 2010’s The Whole Love and a deluxe nine LP/four CD box set of 2004’s A Ghost Is Born. Set lists will also include material from their 2023 full-length studio album Cousin and 2024’s Hot Sun Cool Shroud EP.

Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale Friday, Jan. 17 at 10:00 AM local time.

The genre-crossing American rockers have been influenced by a variety of artists including Bill Fay and the Beatles but they have inspired an even greater number of contemporary indie rock bands. The Chicago-based group formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo. After early lineup changes, the band includes original members frontman Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt along with guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard/piano player Mikael Jorgensen and drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco’s managers are Josh Grier and Crystal Myers. The band’s booking agent is Frank Riley, High Road Touring.

Prior to the tour’s kickoff in April, Tweedy returns to the Vic Theater in Chicago for his annual charity shows on April 18 and 19. The Tweedy family selects the recipients of the proceeds with previous beneficiaries including The Chicago Lighthouse, Be Alright, Direct Effect Charities, One Tail at a Time and Alive Rescue Chicago.

Tweedy also has a family connection to the tour’s special guest Waxahatchee. His son Spencer was the dummer on Waxahatchee’s current release Tiger Blood. Waxahatchee was formed in 2010 by Katie Crutchefield. The band is named after Waxahatchee Creek in Alabama where Crutchfield grew up. Waxahatchee is managed by Another Management Company’s Reynold Jaffe and Timmy Hefner at Ground Control Touring is the booking agent.
