The revered 1,424-capacity Regency Ballroom in San Francisco has undergone a multimillion-dollar round of renovations intended to blend the historic building’s charm with modern amenities.

“Renovating the Regency Ballroom has been a long-standing goal for us, and the time is now right to make it a reality,” Danny Bell, senior vice president of talent buyer Goldenvoice, said in the announcement. “It’s important for us to preserve the rich history of the building while making improvements to the audience and artist experience. We believe in San Francisco and are excited to give it a beautiful, revitalized music venue.”

Goldenvoice, which books and operates the venue that was built in 1909, partially funded renovations, according to a representative.

Key features of the renovation include a new L Series sound system from L-Acoustics, which is being called the first permanent install of the system on the West Coast, along with a new DigiCo front-of-house mixing console.

Event spaces have seen upgrades as well, with new LED moving lights, upstage video wall and HVAC system, along with a newly painted interior and expanded and remodeled bathrooms.

Upcoming shows at the venue include Death From Above 1979, Liquid Stranger, Anberlin, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Mogwai, James Bay and many others.

Recent boxoffce reports submitted from The Regency Ballroom include sellouts by La Santa Grifa (Oct. 24) and JPEGMafia (Aug. 20).
