OKC National Guard Armory To Become TempleLive Venue After $23M Redevelopment

A joint venture between Oklahoma City-based Fischer Companies and Beaty Capital Group will see a historic armory become a 4,500-capacity TempeLive-branded venue.
The $23 million project is to redevelop the historic 23rd Street Oklahoma National Guard Armory, a building of historic military and civic significance located within the state capitol complex.
Once complete, the theater will feature multiple configurations including a separate 500-capacity performance space, 1,200 onsite parking spaces, multiple artist green rooms, multiple viewing levels, loading docks and secured bus parking, according to the announcement. Also featured will be dedicated VIP spaces and a microbrewery and restaurant.
“We are thrilled to announce the coming restoration and showcase of one of our city’s iconic buildings,” Mark Fischer said in the announcement. “We aim to make the armory a cherished gathering space for the community to come together and enjoy.” Fischer, operator and owner of OKC-based craft brewer COOP Ale Works, brings real estate and hospitality development experience to the project.
“We are honored to take on the responsibility of preserving and revitalizing this remarkable piece of Oklahoma history,” said Rob Thomas, President of TempleLive “Our vision is to celebrate the armory’s storied past while providing a state-of-the-art venue that will serve the community for generations to come.” TempleLive, which operates under the Beaty Capital umbrella, operates and has redeveloped historic theatre venues in Arkansas, Kansas, Ohio and Illinois.
The joint venture looks to meticulously restore the 23rd Street Oklahoma National Guard Armory while honoring its Art Deco architecture and military past, retaining its stone facade and distinctive interiors while offering modern amenities fit for concerts, theatrical performances and community events.
An timeline for the project was not provided, although the venue is expected to be complete within a few years.
