Opry member and country music’s TV ambassador Blake Shelton will host NBC’s “Opry 100: A Live Celebration,” celebrating the Grand Ole Opry’s milestone 100th anniversary, on March 19.
The three-hour live celebration airs at 8:00 PM/ET and will be simulcast on Peacock. The special includes performances by some of country music’s most acclaimed artists including Shelton and fellow Opry members Ashley McBryde, Brad Paisley, Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Clint Black, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Marty Stuart, Reba McEntire, Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood and Vince Gill. Also planned is a special appearance by Randy Travis, as well as Opry favorites, including Amy Grant, Eric Church, Jelly Roll and The War And Treaty.
“Becoming a member of the Opry is a highlight of my life and career, and 15 years later I still get that same feeling of reverence and excitement every time I walk out on that stage,” said Shelton in a release. “The Grand Ole Opry has been connecting the country music family for 100 years, and I’m so proud to be part of this historic celebration.”
The popular radio program debuted on WSM Radio on Nov. 28, 1925 as the WSM Barn Dance and later changed names to the Grand Ole Opry in 1927 making it the longest-running, live broadcast show in the world. The format is a compelling mix of household names, up-and-commers, comedians and celebrity guests. “Opry 100: A Live Celebration” will showcase collaborations, reflect on legendary Opry moments and highlight exclusive digital content.
The broadcast features performances from the Grand Ole Opry House and Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, which is known as the Mother Church of Country Music and the Opry’s home from 1943 to 1974 when it moved to the Opry House.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 31 at 10:00 AM/CT. The telecast will be executive produced by Silent House Productions’ Emmy winners Baz Halpin, Mark Bracco and Linda Gierahn, along with R.A. Clark and Steve Buchanan. The Grand Ole Opry is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties and part of a strategic investment with Atairos and NBCUniversal.
